Nothing says spring quite like flowers on a cake. And so we did just that with our DIY Fresh Flower Cake Topper that only need a few supplies and it’s perfect for any occasion!
I’ve been a little MIA on the DIY front around here recently. But this project will surely make it up to you.
Why? Because it involves cake, macarons, and fresh flowers. I know. I can’t contain myself either…
If I’m really honest, I’ve never attempted a fresh flower cake topper before. But let me just tell you that using a cake vase is pure magic.
Literally, all you do is stick flowers in it, so simple!
Materials and Tools Needed to Make a DIY Fresh Flower Cake Topper
Scissors
Flowers
Water
Cake — You can use a store-bought cake. We also have lots of cake recipes like our keto cheesecake, funfetti cookie cake, chai crepe cake, unicorn strawberry cake and more!
How To Make A DIY Fresh Flower Cake Topper
Step 1 – Place the cake vase on top of your iced cake.
Step 2 – Fill it with a small amount of water, just enough to fill all of the holes.
Cut the stems to the flowers short. And begin placing them into the holes of the vase starting from the outside working in.
The instructions for the vase say to start from the center working outwards. But I found that working from the outside in made the center flowers stand up a bit higher, which I liked.
Step 3 – Once all of the flowers are placed in the holes, use smaller buds to fill in any gaps.

Do you realise ranunculus are extremeley poisonous. They do NOT mix with cakes or cake toppers. Hope no one accidentally gets a bit of a bit of sap from the flowers.
Hi Angela! Yes, we are aware that they aren’t edible which is why we used a cake topper. This was an older post so we just saw that the link to the cake topper has sold out but this is similar to the one we used: https://shopstyle.it/l/0GeZ. Don’t worry! We did research on the flowers and have seen it being used on other desserts. You have to actually ingest a large amount of the buds directly for it to have serious effect.
Gorgeous flowers! Where do you usually get your flowers for your DIYs?
A beautifully landscaped property can bring pleasure to you, your family, as well as your neighborhood. This practically brings pride to your humble home, making you a proud owner of your lot. To create a landscape that is both grandiose and easy to maintain, you need to consider some important things and basically some useful home landscaping ideas. The scope and limitation of your property size, the climatic conditions of your area where you live, and the types of soil you have to deal with in your property are some of the primary factors you should consider.^;.*
