I got the chance to escape for a little bit this past weekend in West Texas. It’s funny how quickly you freak out about losing cell phone service and then fast forward three days later and you secretly hope your phone doesn’t work again (or was that just me)? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not apologizing for my love of Instagram, I’m just saying it’s nice to not constantly be on a schedule or checking emails religiously.
I think that’s why people love Marfa so much, and I’m no different. It’s got bright, clear blue skies, art galleries for days, and no one stirs before 10am. It may also require special planning in order to have breakfast in the morning, because the people of Marfa pretty much do whatever they want. If they want their shop to be closed one day, they close it. If it’s too busy with tourists, they take naps (in my mind, anyways). I think everyone that visits is secretly a little jealous of their lifestyle, so we keep going back. I think I’m already planning my next trip. As for now, these are a few photos from this visit, you can view a few more from my Instagram, here.
In case you’re looking to fulfill you’re inner desire to stay in a trailer, tee-pee, or safari tent, you’ll find all of your hopes and dreams at El Cosmico. I so wanted the chance to say I’d stayed the night in a tee-pee, but we stayed at Hotel Paisano because El Cosmico was all booked.
