Aside from the fact that we’ll drink just about anything from a copper cup sheerly for the cuteness factor, we’ve really been into Moscow Mules lately.

There’s mule everywhere.

From cocktails to dessert (like this Moscow Mule float recipe), we love them all for the summer.

Now that everyone loves them, we guess, they’re not as cool.

But what can we say, they taste great!

To bring a little different flair to the current trend, we made a four-ingredient Moscow Mule version that you can whip up on the fly for our rooftop watch party with Smirnoff.

And did we mention these copper cups were only $9 instead of the usual $20 each from Target?!? Winning!

Ingredients Needed to Make a Smirnoff Moscow Mule

Ginger beer

Smirnoff ICE Original — A lemon-lime flavored malt.

Typically, Moscow Mules only call for ginger beer, vodka and lime juice. But we put a spin on the classic recipe.

Vodka

Lime wedge

Why Are Moscow Mules Served in Copper Cups?

If you don’t have a copper mug, you can use a regular beverage glass.

However, we highly recommend drinking Moscow Mules out of copper mugs.

Besides it being traditional, there are functional reasons as to why Moscow Mules are always served in copper.

Copper is great at retaining cold temperatures.

So it keeps the cocktail chilled and cool.

Some say that the copper oxidizes at the touch of vodka. And therefore will enhance the vodka flavor.

How to Make a Smirnoff Moscow Mule

Pour all of the ingredients in a copper mug filled with ice.

And, then give it a quick stir.

Squeeze a lime wedge into your cocktail, and drop it in as a garnish too.

We use the black and white striped straws to tie in our football watch party element without being too cheesy with full-on football everything!
