Hi Michelle! I totally know what you mean. Personal preference on showing or hiding that little metal piece. I think it’s cute if you’re into embroidery but it’s definitely a cleaner look with it hidden. Your version sounds so pretty! Love a good gold spray paint! :)

The only thing I did differently was I hid the part of the embroidery hoop where it comes together behind the flower grouping. I prefer it hidden, so it’s not so obviously an embroidery hoop (since I don’t embroider). I spray painted mine gold and used silk flowers, so we could hang them as a permanent decoration afterwards. Love them and get compliments all the time (plus they were pretty easy and fun to make)!
