I recently went hog wild in Ikea. If you’ve ever been to an Ikea store then you’ll agree with me that it’s much like unleashing kids at an inexpensive and not so well made carnival- It’s both thrilling and a little dangerous. When I say dangerous, I’m mostly referring to my bank account and not so much to the endless hours of fidgety tools and Swedish wordless instructions involved in actually getting anything you buy there together (this is mainly because hubby tends to magically assemble everything while I’m at work). Anyways, all this to say that I got this sweet little chair at Ikea last week, and because of the not so well made part of the carnival, the pillow that came with it needed quite a bit of a makeover for it to look half-way decent. So, I turned it into a love pillow with a little bit of paint & hot glue–
1 | Pillow / Pillow cover
2 | Pencil
3 | Scissors
4 | Sheet of paper
5 | Hot glue gun & sticks
6 | Paint & foam brush
1 | Lay your pillow/cover flat. If you’re using a cover, place something inside the pillow so excess paint doesn’t soak through the other side.
2 | Cut out a heart from a sheet of paper to use as a stencil. This way your heart is symmetrical.
3 + 4| Lay the heart flat in the center of your pillow & trace.
5 | Using your pencil write the word love in the center of the traced heart.
6 | Trace over the letters in ‘love’ with hot glue making sure that you are using thick strokes. This is super important, or the letters won’t peel back off when you’re finished. I know this from trial and error.
7 + 8 | Paint the heart & over the hot glue letters. Let dry completely.
9 | Peel hot glue off, & voila!
