DIY: ‘Love’ Vase and Flowers

I concocted this DIY as way to try out my glue-gun writing skills for the first time, and I have to say that trying to write with a glue gun is definitely not the easiest thing i’ve ever done (but that’s the basis of this project, so lucky you!)  ;]  With a little bit of practice, though, I’m pretty sure you could turn a piece of trash into a hidden treasure with these two things alone! Okay, that may be a bit of a stretch…

Things you’ll need:

  • Glass vase (you can get one at the Dollar Store for, *drum roll please* a $1!)
  • Glue-gun & glue sticks
  • Spray paint in your color of choice
  • White floral wire
  • Small styrofoam balls & paint color
Glue Gun Vase With The Word Love On it
First, make sure your vase has a clean, dry surface. Using your glue-gun, write your word of choice on the glass. Good thing is if you mess up (like I did a 1000+ times) you can just peel the glue right back off and try again!
Spray paint for the glass vase
Next, I chose a high gloss spray paint by Krylon in “Ballet Slipper” and spray painted 3 thin coats on the vase.
To make the ‘flowers’, paint small styrofoam balls with yellow craft paint, and use white floral wire to make the ‘stems’. Not only do these flowers never die, but they’re super cheap and easy to manipulate to the perfect shape!
