No-Sew DIY Pet Pillow & Our Charity Workshop Recap

Learn to make a cozy no-sew DIY Pet Pillow for your furry friend. We made these pillows during our State Farm charity workshop to donate to the local animal shelter!

Looking for a way to spoil your furry friend without breaking the bank? This no-sew DIY Pet Pillow is the purrfect (or perhaps pawsome) solution!

Made with just a few simple materials, it’s a quick and easy project that creates a cozy resting spot for your pet. Plus, it’s a great way to upcycle any leftover fleece fabric you might have lying around. This is the perfect pet gift.

We made these no-sew DIY Pet Pillows to donate to BARC Houston at a pet adoption event the following Saturday. And our hearts basically melted getting to pass out these cute pillows to the animals!

We LOVE having you all in our studio! We love it even more when it’s for a good cause. So we were so excited to see how well received our charity workshop with State Farm® was. It sold out the same morning RSVP’s went live!

In case you missed the announcement, the workshop was free to attend and was all about giving back. Naturally, we couldn’t turn down the opportunity to catch it all on video, so there’s that also.

Of course, it’s never a complete DIY workshop without sweets, bites, cocktails, and photo ops. So we’re sharing the scoop on all of that right here.

How To Make A No Sew DIY Pet Pillow

Now for the recreating the DIY portion of the workshop with your pet pillows at home!

Materials and tools needed:

• Fleece or heavy fabric in the colors of your choice — Enough for two squares at least 22″ x 22″. Use different colored fleece fabrics to create a fun and playful design.
• Foam padding — Cut to a size slightly smaller than your fleece squares.
• Scissors

Instructions:

1 — Cut two squares from your fleece fabric, each measuring at least 22″ x 22″. You can always adjust the size based on your pet’s needs

2 — Cut your foam to a size slightly smaller than your fleece squares (around 12″ x 12″).

3 — Lay the cut foam padding centered between the center of your 2 fleece pieces.

4 — Carefully cut 1-inch wide fringe slits around all 4 sides of the fleece, stopping about 2-3 inches from the corner.

5 — Take 1 fringe from the outer edge and another fringe directly opposite it. Tie these 2 fringes together in a strong double knot, tightly against the foam square. Repeat this process all the way around the perimeter of the fleece, creating a series of knots that will cinch the center and form the pillow shape.

6 — Once all the fringes are knotted, gently pull the knots to tighten the center and create a defined pillow shape. You can adjust the tightness to control the firmness of the pillow. Trim some of the fringed ends.

We ended up making and donating over 70 pet pillows to BARC animal shelter! And these are the pretty faces that helped make it happen.
