Whether for budget reasons or plain ol’ indecisiveness, we all have a corner of our home that goes a bit forgotten. For me, Erin, that area is this little corner of our living room. The walls have been empty since we moved in a few years ago because I just wasn’t sure what I wanted to go there.

Last week, finally fed up with this naked corner, I impulsively pulled out some colored construction paper and started playing around with collage art. I love the modern lighthearted look I landed on, and the pieces are surprisingly easy to create.

If you’re in need of some inexpensive art inspiration, then this DIY Paper Shapes Wall Art is your project!…

It’s helpful to do a quick sketch beforehand so you have a rough idea of the shapes, sizes, and how you’re going to lay them out.

Once you have a design in mind, cut out a variety of shapes from different colors of construction paper. Experiment with circles, squares, crescents, triangles, and polygons, and stagger the sizes of shapes.

For circles I traced a circular-bottomed vase, and the rest of the shapes I drew and cut freehand. The irregular imperfect shapes add a bit of whimsy.

Once your shapes are cut out, peel back the film on the dry adhesive and lay the shapes on the sticky adhesive sheet. Press the shapes onto the sheet and then peel them off. The adhesive will stick to the back of the shape creating a sticker.
