Five Minute Chic Bento Box DIY

Back to school, back to work, just for picnics, snacking in the car, trying new things.. whatever it may be, this five minute chic bento box DIY is just too cute not to make! And by make, I mainly mean assemble since technically there’s nothing to really make here. Which also means there’s no excuse for you to not go around snacking like a true model. See what I did there?! It makes perfect sense when you consider that snacking and packing a lunch is meant to be a super quick task, plus it’s a fun new twist to try out in lieu of the traditional lunch bag.

Naturally it wouldn’t be a bento box if we didn’t show you how to properly pack your snacks, so we filled them with our current favorite things for snacking around the studio, too — raspberries, blueberries, cashews, and last, but definitely not least, The Laughing Cow® cheese dippers that I eat like there’s no tomorrow. There’s also a lot of cheddar popcorn mixed into that list, too, but we nixed it for the sake of not cheddar dusting all of our fruits, if you will…

You can use any food safe container that you’d like

Silicon bands

Your favorite snacks

Like I said, you can make one of these sets with just about any cute, food safe box you can find. All you have to do is fill them with your favorite snacks, and wrap the silicon band around the box as a classy new alternative to a lunch box.

Pretty cool right?!

I also love the idea that you can color code the bands so that if you’re packing snacks for a household, each person will know which is there’s. Do you all have any clever, glam snacking tricks of the trade?!

  1. Hi Ashley! Beautiful website but this post is encouraging people to use unsafe food storage.

I’m afraid if you look at Container Store’s website, it says, “We don’t recommend our Clear Boxes with Brushed Lids for storing food.”

It would be a great post about office organization or something else, not food.

    1. Hi Roxanne, you’re welcome to put anything in the box that you deem fit, or to use a food safe box of your choice using the same DIY concept :)

  2. CUTE IDEA, BUT CALLING THIS A DIY IS A REAL STRETCH. ALSO, I WOULD CALL THESE A TREAT BOX, NOT A BENTO. A BENTO BOX CONTAINS A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF FOODS: CARBS, PROTEIN, FRUITS, VEGGIES AND SOMETIMES A SMALL TREAT. THE FOODS ARE SELECTED TO PROVIDE A BALANCE OF COLORS, FLAVORS AND TEXTURES. YOURS SIMPLY HAVE A SNACK IN THEM. AGAIN, CUTE PRESENTATION, BUT I THINK THE TITLE IS DECEIVING AND CLICK-BAIT

    1. you’re welcome to call it a snack box if you prefer, and the concept works with any BPA free container. Thanks for reading along! :)

  3. Any other links for the silicon bands? The amazon link seems to just have More bold colors and im Dying over these pastel colors. Thanks!

  4. So stinkin’ adorable! Also, I bought some of those cheese dippers after seeing them on your snapchat, so good!
