Our Honeymoon Part 2 – Bora Bora French Polynesia

After a very detailed part one of our honeymoon recap, we’re now taking it easy with pretty pictures of our honeymoon in Bora Bora French Polynesia!

It turns out that part one of our honeymoon recap ended up being slightly controversial!

Luckily, this post from Bora Bora French Polynesia is packed full of photos and less of the apparently very juicy details that left some people with ruffled feathers of this French Polynesia portion.

Either way, I want to go back every single time I look at these photos! Oh, and did I mention there’s also a video?!

Hence, why I may have gone a teeny tiny bit overboard with the number of pictures here. But I couldn’t help it.

It was our first time to French Polynesia and our first time ever staying at a Four Seasons Hotel. And holy smokes is Four Seasons next level living!

Literally, if I had one single room in my house as spotless and pristine as that resort, I would write home about it. Heck, I’d write several people about it.

But we’re clearly not here for me to talk about how un-five star like my house is, are we? So let’s get to the good stuff in the form of a picture book blog post…

First thing first, we got picked up from the airport in this pretty little boat. And by pretty I mean that it outshined every single boat at the airport.

Plus it has WIFI, which is insane to me.

The Four Seasons Villas

When we finally got to the hotel we basically jumped in head first immediately. Like I said in the first honeymoon recap, if you’re going to go all the way to Bora Bora, you might as well go big with the overwater bungalow.

The Four Seasons only offers overwater villas, but some are closer to the beach than others. The farther you are from the beach, the deeper the water which was my only complaint about the room we had.

This mainly is a statement about my fear of large sea-creatures, but you know what I mean.

The views of the mountains in Bora Bora are literally insane. We didn’t do any venturing up the mountain while we were there since our excursion in Moorea Moorea was similar, but we hear it’s just as stunning from the top. Our Honeymoon Part 2: Bora Bora, French Polynesia by top Houston lifestyle blogger Ashley Rose of Sugar and Cloth Our Honeymoon Part 2: Bora Bora, French Polynesia by top Houston lifestyle blogger Ashley Rose of Sugar and Cloth Our Honeymoon Part 2: Bora Bora, French Polynesia by top Houston lifestyle blogger Ashley Rose of Sugar and Cloth

There isn’t a ton of night time entertainment there, but the Polynesia dinner is a must!

It happened to fall on our first night there, and it was super delicious, a great way to meet other vacationer’s, and highly entertaining. Particularly if you get the very drunk group at your table like we happened to get, haha!

For those of you that watch my IG stories, you know what I’m talking about!

The water there is so ridiculously clear it looks like a pool.

There aren’t a ton of pool floats and things available, so we snagged this one to wade around in.

Excursions In Bora Bora French Polynesia

We tried to take advantage of the beach most of our time there when we weren’t out doing excursions, but the pool is the BEST for cocktails and easy sun.

The excursions we did do were jet skiing (my FAVORITE vacation thing to do!) and coral reef snorkeling.

We always do our own jet ski’s because I’m that person and like to be in control too, and getting to see the island that way was awesome.

We clearly take our jet ski hobby seriously, haha. Rather than booking jet ski’s through the hotel, we actually booked them through Moana with Taylor from The Simple Sol. And it was almost half the price of the hotel jet ski tour!

We did the same for our snorkeling adventure the next day, too. Which I’m not going to lie, kind of terrified me at first.

What I loved about it was that only 6 people TOTAL were on the boat with us for that tour. But there was no bathroom, no snacks, and no drinks for a 4.5 hour tour. You also don’t make any stops except for random spots in the ocean, so there’s that.

You also free snorkel in 100 ft deep water for 30-45 minutes at a time. Our first stop doing this was to be able to see manta rays in the wild, and it was possibly the coolest and scariest thing ever. You have to swim fast and keep your head down to see them, but they’re beautiful.

I think the reason this really scared me was because the water was pretty choppy that day, and it got tiring quick but you’re in deep water so you can’t rest. But would I do it again?

Absolutely yes. Snorkeling in the shallow coral water in the Bora Bora French Polynesia was totally AMAZING though (see below).

The rest of the time we spent lounging and pretending we had no to-do lists for once. And it was a beautiful beautiful feeling.

Now if only everday was a honeymoon, right? Someone should put that on a shirt somewhere….

  1. Thank you for this post. Love your blog! So much of your wedding planning/story sounds like what my fiancee and I are going through right now. And with so much content out there it is still really hard to get a handle on what things realistically cost after it is all said and done! Can you give us a ballpark on what the revised “destination” wedding cost + the total of the Bora Bora trip (all-in, with travel)?

    • Hi Kim! Eloping cost us about $5,000 because of the additional decor elements and rental car. We did two full weeks in Bora Bora which cost us $12,000 altogether, including airfare and food. Hope this helps!

  2. Beautiful and detailed post, thanks for sharing. Would you say Bora Bora is a must. We were going to keep it to Moorea due to affordability and also time spent on travel to Bora Bora. Would love to get your thoughts since you went to both.

    • Hi Tracy! We actually liked Moorea just as much if not more than Bora Boar. The Hilton’s overwater bungalows were amazing and the water was a lot shallower so we felt more comfortable getting in. Obviously, Bora Bora is something to just say you’ve experienced but its WAY more expensive and an extra flight to get to whereas Moorea only requires a ferry from the Tahiti International. Hope this helps!

  3. I know you mentioned there isn’t much night time entertainment here, I was wondering if there were any bars on or off resort that are lively after the sun goes down? Thank-you!

  4. ome people, especially those running on busy daily schedules tend to use the pills to help maintain weight since they can not afford to follow all the diet programs. This is not advised. It is recommended that one seek advice from a professional in this field before using the pills. This can save one from many dangers associated with the misuse.

The diet pills should always be taken whole. Some people tend to divide the pills to serve a longer period of time. This is not advised and can lead to ineffectiveness. If it is required that one takes a complete tablet, it means that a certain amount of the ingredients are required to achieve the desired goal. It is also recommended that one does not crush the pill and dissolve it in beverages. Chemicals found in beverages have the potential of neutralizing the desired nutrients in the pill thereby leading to ineffectiveness. The best way to take the tablets is swallowing them whole with a glass of water.

  5. Thanks for your blog! We are going to bora bora soon exactly as you did and was wondering if you could spare some advice. Do you suggest booking these excursions ahead of time or did you book then when you got there? With the snorkling, do they wait for you if you fall behind? Do animals come and touch you? I am terrified of sea animals coming too close. Anything you would of done differently or any other advice? Thanks.

    • Hi Jess! We booked ahead of time through The Simple Sol and Moana excursions, which we found to be easier and cheaper, plus we knew what our days were going to look like instead of trying to book something last minute and there be no availability left, etc. NO ONE gets left behind on the snorkeling we did, and you are out in the open to things can always touch you, but you’re not in a position to be required to, no. In hindsight, I would’ve booked a shorter snorkeling excursion than the one we did, just because the amount of time you’re out on the boat in the sun/on the water with no coverage.
