Hello, from London! We’re here prepping to go on our British Isles cruise with Princess Cruises tomorrow and we are so excited!
We flew into London last Thursday and we’re finally leaving Southhampton port tomorrow after sightseeing in the city and letting Gwen adjust to the timezone. Even though we’ve gotten pretty used to flying with Gwen, this is the first time we’ve had this much of a time difference to account for with her sleeping scheduling (London is 6 hours ahead of us!).
She did pretty well on the flight (aka, no one murdered us from being the only ones with a crying baby on a 9-hour flight), but it took a solid three days for her to really get settled. Needless to say, we were all pretty pooped, so I’m glad we got to London early before hopping on a ship right away!
I’ll be sharing our full recaps from London after the trip, but I wanted to share our London cruise itinerary with you in the meantime because we need some help on what’s worth seeing while we’re here.
Jared’s parents are on the trip with us, and power in numbers when it comes to traveling with a baby is a BEAUTIFUL thing ya’ll! His Mom actually snagged this photo for us from our visit to Horniman Museum and Gardens during a quick visit yesterday before we met up with the rest of the group.
We’re going on the 12 night British Isles cruise, and I still haven’t planned all of our excursions. Since we’ll have Gwen with us, we’re trying to be both strategic in how much we can see while also being realistic of what’s too much for her to do in a day.
We love bringing her along with us (and she LOVES being worn in the carrier by her Daddy!) but we really do try to keep in mind that she needs a semi-steady schedule.
SO, with that said, here’s our general plan…
Day 1: Guernsey (St. Peter Port) – for this one our plan was to take the ferry to Sark Island for the day and do a little hike to some of the viewpoints.
Day 2: Cork, Ireland (Cobh – For Blarney Castle) – we booked the Kinsale excursion for this day, and I’m so excited about the colorful explosion of houses!
Day 3: Dublin, Ireland – basically from this day on we no longer have a real plan, haha! we have some booked excursions to different cities from the port, but we still don’t know what to see when we get there.
Day 4: Belfast, Northern Ireland
Day 5: Glasgow (Greenock), Scotland: We’re doing the Glasgow on your own Princess Cruises excursion
Day 6: At Sea
Day 7: Orkney Islands (Kirkwall), Scotland
Day 8: Invergordon, Scotland
Day 9: Edinburgh (South Queensferry), Scotland: We booked the Edinburgh on your own Princess Cruises excursion
Day 10: At Sea
Day 11: Paris/Normandy (Le Havre), France
Day 12: London (Southampton), England – flying home!
Beyond Cork, we basiclly have no real plans. SO, we’re all ears! And a huge thank you to Princess Cruises for partnering with us on this year’s trip!
