Our Scandinavian Travels – Copenhagen, Oslo & Berlin

Our Scandinavian Travels — I’m sharing our favorite places to eat, things to do, places to shop, and what to see when in Scandinavia!

Our Scandinavian Travels: Copenhagen, Oslo, + Berlin!

I think I might still be coming down off of our Scandinavian travels high, you guys. Northern Europe and Scandinavia has been at the top of mine and Jared’s bucket lists for quite some time.

I have to say, unpacking once, hanging out with friends every night, and seeing seven countries via a cruise ship all at the same time is the way to do it!

This was our third trip with Princess Cruises, so we’re basically blood relatives at this point. No joke, I’d make baby girl’s middle name Princess if that meant we could go on one every year, haha!

But seriously, any offers? If it’s any consolation, I didn’t know I was pregnant on this trip, so it would be semi-fitting…

On account of our photo hoarding (still going strong over here!), I’ve broken our trip into two parts so I’m not totally overwhelming you all at once. First up, Copenhagen, Oslo, and Berlin…

Fun fact: my acclimated Texas bones can’t hang when it comes to Copenhagen’s “Spring/Summer” weather.

It was rainy and in the 40’s-50’s most of the time, so I was basically shivering in my pink Nike’s.

That said, they might have the coolest design of just about anywhere on Earth, so I let it slide.

Our cruise itinerary took off Copenhagen, and Jared and I got the chance to fly in a few days early to do some extra exploring. Our hotel happened to be RIGHT across from Tivoli, and it is pure magic.

They say Walt Disney got his inspiration for Disney World from here!

I mainly had churros covered in sweet cream sauce with sprinkles while here, but to pretend to be an adult, we also ate at Cafe Nimb which is stunning. The food options in Copenhagen are ENDLESS! These were the ones we loved most —

When we weren’t stuffing our faces, we were busy spending all of our money at design shops.

In hindsight, I would’ve LOVED to know I was pregnant while there because their kid’s shops are the coolest! Above was Hay designs flagship, and I basically could’ve moved in.

One thing I really wish we would’ve had time for was the Louisiana Museum.

We got SO many recommendations from you all to visit, but didn’t want to break away from the city for the 45 minute to an hour train ride each way during the short amount of days we were there.

We did get to visit Nyhaven, Superkilen park (see the crazy striped image up top!), Christiania, and the canals/swan boats.

At first the city was pretty confusing to navigate, but we got the hang of public transportation after a few trial runs! Though we did a lot of walking, it was easier to get to and from quickly going the metro route.

From our hotel in Copenhagen, we hopped on the Regal Princess with our cruise fam/aka our Euro reunion group! And these were some of the sea views we got to see every day as we made our way through Scandinavia. Dream!

Our first port after Copenhagen was Oslo, Norway. It just so happened that we were docked during a national holiday which meant a lot of things happened to be closed.

We still got to see several landmarks like the Oslo Opera House, which is worth the stop alone.

We also happened to find the one place that looked and felt like home (hello, humidity!) at the Oslo Botanical Gardens.

We spent the rest of the day wandering around exploring a bit, and trying W.B. Samson pastries and having dinner out with friends.

Our next stop on the cruise was Berlin, Germany!

We were so excited to say we had visited Germany for longer than just a 4 hour layover here and there, but we also did a really terrible job of planning out what we wanted to see while in the city aside from the historical staples which happen upon you just about everywhere throughout the city.

Speaking of, Berlin is VERY spread out, which only added to the chaos. We did find several cute spots by happenstance, but I will give you fair warning on not making the same mistakes we did on not mapping things out beforehand.

You can easily end up spending most of the day in an Uber if you’re not careful!

Needless to say I was in love with this cute, retro coffee shop with terrazzo counters!

As for Berlin, if I got no other memory than this wall of fresh cherry blossoms hidden in the middle of the city, it would’ve been worth it!

Do you have any favorite must-sees from these cities that we missed?! I’m sure there are a ton we could’ve added to our lists!

Be sure to check back this week for part two of our trip, and a big thanks to our fam at Princess Cruises for sponsoring us again this year, it’s our favorite annual hoorah!
