If it were up to me, we would all live exclusively in a large pile of Dusen Dusen linens, eat cake, and never get out of bed.

But since that dream isn’t coming true anytime soon, I’m bringing the pattern party to you.

If you’ve spent any time browsing the blog, you’ve probably noticed that I appreciate a good print.

But, let’s face it. The life of a DIY blogger is strange in many ways. And I often have to remind myself that not everyone just so happens to always have a patterned chair, plates, and throw pillows lying around.

Instead, these are 4 ways to add temporary pattern to any party, because why the heck not?

Plus, I’m also crazy enough to go as far as designing custom patterned clothes (see here), which is something worth writing about…

Print A Huge Custom Backdrop

Everything changed when we learned about engineer prints from Staples. $7 for a huge print, my friends! 

This is actually a trick we learned a while back while choosing art for Kayla’s living room, and it’s the perfect temporary solution for creating a cool photo booth backdrop too.

Plus, I love the idea of using the leftover prints as wrapping paper.

Add Removable & Adhesive Vinyl

I’ve learned the hard way that there are always fewer tears when I skip the paint and opt for an adhesive vinyl over the years.

I love that using the temporary vinyl means I can easily correct mistakes. (Can I get an amen?!)

Plus, I can always remove the shapes and reuse the decor items later on, like these DIY hanging acrylic designs we made using large sheets of acrylic from Home Depot, and then just made two small holes at the top of them.

Dress Up Your Desserts

My brushstroke obsession actually began a couple years back when I whipped up this DIY Abstract Watercolor Cake! 

The word “abstract” pretty much means fail-proof for anyone who isn’t a Pinterest professional, and it’s bound to be a real crowd pleaser.

All you need is a little almond extract and gel food coloring.

Make Your Favorite Patterns Into Custom Outfits

Am I the only one who constantly dreams up clothing that I’m convinced should be available for purchase somewhere?

There’s nothing worse than conjuring up the perfect dress in your head and not being able to find it! Since I heard about Print All Over Me, I’ve been dying to try out the process.

You can upload your own designs and choose a silhouette to apply them to. It’s pretty awesome for anyone who has a bit of designer in them, but doesn’t necessarily have the resources to create a full-fledged line!
