What Did You Pack In Your Hospital Bag? + The Weekly Edit

I’ve missed the boat on sharing a weekly edit the last few weeks, but here we are now! We’re in the home stretch with the typical end of year busyness with work and only 6 weeks left until baby! I’m equal parts excited, terrified, and ready for a long nap. Still not exactly sure how those work together yet, haha.

We also have a MAJOR announcement coming up in January, so we’ve been working like little bees getting that ready in advance of the baby. You know, just a few casual deadlines to keep us on our toes.

My Dad is in town for a little while which is super nice, and we only have a few projects left in the house. If we get to them before she arrives, then great! If not, I’m not going to sweat it. That said, I do want to update you on some third-trimester things soon, so keep an eye out for those!

One thing I’ve been working on is getting together a hospital bag and all of the legitimate newborn necessities (hello, car seat education!). What did you pack in your hospital bag? Hit me with the must-haves!

For now, here are some weekly links…

— Have any of you tried out this app for focusing on your relationship after baby?

— Considering buying these shoes, should I pull the trigger?! I can’t find a good, simple leather mule…

— We’re selling SO MANY THINGS…

— We’ll be doing a Facebook live video at 1:15 CST at the new Color Wall at GreenStreet today if you want to check it out here!

— Thank you for all of the love on this meltdown!

— Obviously bawled like a baby while watching this FB video

— Watched this Netflix Christmas original and actually liked it, lol. Feel free to judge. I also watch the Hallmark Christmas movies too….

  1. I made my sister a little care package with snacks and a robe and some slippers from this website: https://www.schoolhouse.com/

I also put together a little bag for her kids and husband while they were waiting with more snacks, ear plugs, a deck of cards, and coloring books.

  2. Two outfits for baby. I had the cutest little newborn sleeper with hot Pink flamingos all ready for my daughter but born at almost 9lbs she was too big to wear newborn clothes. The fact that I’d tossed in a 0-3 month option was a lifesaver. Also, snacks for post delivery.

  3. I agree with the Boppy, soft socks and Chapstick. I’ll add cozy, loose pajamas to wear for your recovery (those hospital gowns are well-worn and very scratchy – not to mention hideously ugly. I didn’t think I would care but I did, a surprising amount.).

Also: extension an cord (because who knows where the outlets will be) with multiple outlet plugs so you and your husband can both charge your phones/electronics at the same time. People will be texting you non-stop because it’s such an exciting time! The only other thing I remember wanting was water, but the hospital will provide that to you. :) Good luck and congratulations!

  4. First of all congratulations on your pregnancy. When I had my son I carried baby clothes(onsies especially), baby blanket, diapers and lots of sanitary pads. It was my first pregnancy and I was 20(still confused about the whole situation 😂). Wish you safe delivery and hope you and the baby will be fine & healthy! ☺

  6. One thing you might not considered yet, are mittens for the baby. Not the wool kind, but small ‘bags’ in cotton fabric. Babies often have long nails and finish to scratch their little faces. Before you have time to trim them put cotton mittens. It will also keep them warm in the hospital or home :)

  7. I had a list of things like the clothes, a nursing nightgown for after, a mixtape (yes it was awhile ago) and pink, fluffy socks. My mom bought me the socks, but before I could do the rest I went into pre-term labor and had my daughter 7 weeks early. No bag for me! When she finally came home several months later, I finally wore the socks for the late night feedings. Good luck!

  8. Cute, fluffy socks and chapstick! That cold hospital floor is no joke and the inside air does a number on your lips, especially constantly talking to doctors, nurses and visitors!

  9. If you’re going to try to breastfeed, take the boppy! It’s huge and cumbersome, but helps. Congrats on baby girl, it’s pretty much the funnest thing ever!!!!! -Macy
