DIY Retro Summer Brunch or Soiree
Recreate this DIY Retro Summer Brunch Soiree with your gals this summer! We’re sharing our DIY’s, free printable and sources.
In case you haven’t had the chance to experience the retro goodness that is Palm Springs in real life just yet, we’re helping bring the DIY version straight to you with this DIY Retro Summer Brunch or Soiree we created alongside Beau Tied Events!
Call me obsessed (or just ‘Bridgette Bardot’ in this instance) because this 60’s style game has my name ALL over it!
Naturally, we had to bring a little DIY touch to it all. So I have lots of how-to details and printables.
First and foremost, you can’t host a retro summer brunch without forcing all of your friends to wear 60’s inspired ensembles. We snatched up all of the retro designer goodness that we could from Tootsies.
And I think it came together perfectly. (I want this mint green matching set immediately!). Once everyone is in uniform, the real party can begin!
Printable Striped Drink Umbrellas
- Striped umbrella printables
- Scissors
- Plastic stirrers
- Hot glue and glue gun
To make the umbrellas:
Print out the printable sheets and cut along the outside edge of each colored umbrella.
Then, cut a slit from one side to the middle of the circle.
Fold the cut ends over each other just a bit until it forms a cone shape.
Adhere into place along with a plastic stir stick in the middle with the glue gun.
No matter the decor, what’s a brunch without the bites?
We teamed up with A Fare Extraordinaire to cater the brunch bites. These raspberry scones were seriously to die for!
Robin of Double Trouble mixed her famous tiki cocktails and made us all jealous that she actually owned these ceramic coconut cups!
Summer Party Table Setting
Sadly the perfect patterned pineapple plates to do not exists. (I’m sensing a missed opportunity here, no?!)
So Paula from Beau Tied used mod podge to adhere patterned fabric on the backsides of clear plates, and I love the way they turned out!
Pair them with custom calligraphy menus from Nib and Pixel, a faux banana leaf, custom vinyl chair name decals, and gold flatware, and you’ve got yourself one stylist place setting!
DIY Dotted Wall Backdrop
- 2.5 inch hole punch
- Lots of paint chip samples from the hardware store
- Double sided-tape
- Ruler and level
- Painter’s tape
To make the backdrop —
Kathleen measured and taped off even squares along the wall with painter’s tape and a ruler to mark off perfect 4.5″ sections for the paint sample chips that she cut using a 2.5″ circle hole punch.
In all seriousness, how fake to these floral arrangements from Bramble & Bee look?! They were so perfect I could’ve cried. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such beautiful ombre peonies, and I even like to consider myself a non-florist, just stare-from-the-side-lines connoisseur.
Summer Goodie Bag And Party Favors
Of course, no fete is complete without a killer goodie bag.
So we compiled the perfect summer must-have bag comprised of a Lolo Bag pool tote and sunglasses case, Murphy & Daughters bon bon soap set, Artifact Skin Co. face masks, Manoosh watercolor scarf, Kate Aspen flamingo bottle opener, Salty Road mango taffy, and champagne truffles.
