Sun’s out buns out! Tis’ the season when sunglasses become an essential everyday item for most of us, ranking right up there with our keys and phone. 

With sunglasses tagging along just about everywhere this summer, why not make a retro DIY sunglasses case to protect those beloved sunnies in your bag?!

Always wanting to make a store bought item my own, I’ve taken a retro-style case that I, Erin found on Amazon (for less than $10!) to the next level by adding a summer-y pun to it.

Even better, it comes in tons (and I mean tons) of colors!..

Materials Needed To Make A DIY Sunglasses Case

• Clamshell sunglasses case
• 1/4″ White Vinyl Letter Stickers
• Spray paint in the color of your choice (optional)
• Washi tape or painter’s tape

How To Make A DIY Sunglasses Case

Spray paint the vinyl letters your desired color. Give them one coat of spray paint.

Allow to dry.

Apply another coat until the letters are your desired shade.

Be careful not to over saturate the stickers with paint or they won’t adhere well to the case. Of course, if you find stickers you love as-is, you can skip the spray painting step!

Apply a strip of washi tape across the lid of the sunglasses case in the location that you’d like your words to be.

Then, place another strip of washi tape directly below (and parallel to) the first piece of tape.

Remove the first piece of washi tape. This is just meant to serve as a guide to know where to evenly place the letters.

Once you have your desired placement area, apply the letters to the sunglasses case spelling out your chosen phrase.

I chose the ‘Sun’s Out Buns Out’ phrase for my case, but obviously the pun could be anything! What’s your favorite phrase for summer this year?
