I’m always on the lookout for cool planters, especially as we head into winter. I, Erin like to stock up on them to help combat the dreary winter blues.

The inspiration for this DIY Mid Century Modern Planter came from this Scandinavian home, which has a cool, sculptural vessel tucked quietly into the corner of the living room.

Its minimalist, mid century goodness is what caught my eye. I knew it’d be the perfect home for my (currently homeless) mini palm plant.

Any guesses what it’s made from? Hint: it just might be as simple as two stacked bowls. It definitely adds big style to any space though, right?!

How To Make A DIY Mid Century Modern Planter

Use a cloth dampened (with water) to wet the inside rim on the underside of the larger bowl. Adhesives like Gorilla Glue bond better when the surface has been dampened.

Then, apply a generous ring of adhesive to the rim of the larger bowl.

Place the smaller bowl right-side-up on top of the larger bowl so that the bottoms of both bowls make contact.

Allow to dry for a few hours.

If your plant requires drainage, you’ll want to add a few small rocks to the bottom of the vessel before planting your plant.
