Behind The Scenes Lately: SXSW, Create & Cultivate + A Surprise Collab!
You guys, I miss you! I really, really do. I feel like I’ve been MIA for a year with all of the traveling that’s been going on. I’m super excited to catch you up on the behind the scenes things we’ve been working on though! Some are more exciting than others, but such is life. If nothing else, here’s a photo of me and Ella Bean in sunnies during SXSW. That should make up for anything.
So here’s the recent scoop — after all of the wedding and honeymoon excitement, we spent last week in the studio scrambling to catch up on work. We also handpainted over 200 fruit macarons to take to Create & Cultivate for SXSW, packed styling supplies for a food styling workshop with the Feed Feed, and then ate too many of said macarons. It was a good time.
I also got the chance to chat on a panel with LivvyLand Blog (a dear friend from my Princess Cruises trip!), Nicolette Mason (one of the coolest gals you’ll ever meet and she doesn’t even try), Rach Martino (just as sweet as she seems online), and Jenn Im (a really genuine soul that I now want to hug and carry around forever). I was totally friending up getting to be on that panel, and I’m so thankful to have gotten to spend a Sunday afternoon with them!
Of course it wouldn’t be a Sugar & Cloth road trip without hundreds of fruit macarons on display and in boxes, so we had that covered too. I’m pretty pumped about getting those pulled together as a last minute idea, and thank goodness for the team being willing to slave over cookies for hours.
We did quite a lot of bopping around the city to say hello, but did find a little time to sneak into Modcloth and found this cute flamingo wall. I want this somewhere, somehow!
I was also very much not joking about matching Ella Bean, we got the cutest embroidered jackets from Levi’s and the Shopstyle team (I had mine personalized with “peachy”!), and I couldn’t pass up a could twinning photo-op at the Paige Denim and Infatuation party.
As for this week, we get to shoot a SUPER fun collab with Drew Scott (and his Fiance Linda!) from The Property Brothers tonight in Galveston. I’m pretty much pinching myself with excitement! You can tune in on IG stories and Facebook Live for a sneak peek as we’re shooting! Hint: it involves a lot of random DIY supplies and possibly toast, so it should be good.
We head out of town again this weekend for Chicago (weather permitting, so fingers crossed!) to walk the housewares show, so you can follow along on that too. I’m itching to see all of the new trends coming out! I’ve never been to a show like that before, so I can’t wait to see what it’s all about.
