We’re back on the renovation wagon and finally sharing our kitchen makeover before and after!
I genuinely cannot express how thankful I am that we had this complete before Gwen arrived. Thank goodness for miracles when it comes to small kitchen makeovers!
Though we didn’t make any major construction changes with the kitchen, it’s a pretty drastic before and after as far as upgrades go.
The cabinets, layout, and flooring are all the same, but we’ve improved leaps and bounds from the built-to-be-a-rental quality that we started with.
Our biggest priorities for the kitchen were replacing the cheap countertops and appliances. KitchenAid provided all new appliances, and now I feel like I’m living the Pinterest cooking dream, haha!
Seriously, our old dishwasher sounded like it was a jet-engine starting up, and that’s not an exaggeration…
We installed the 5 Burner Gas Convection Slide-In Range with Baking Drawer, 1200-Watt Convection Microwave with High-Speed Cooking – 30″, Dishwashe
The bottle wash feature on our dishwasher is a mom’s DREAM!
It has dedicated spray nozzles in the upper rack that you sit bottles (workout bottles, jars, whatever you want!) down over to get them deep cleaned and is quiet enough to run with a napping babe. So, so, so convenient.
If an oven with a baking drawer is not on your bucket list, it should be!
It comes in so handy and is the perfect way to keep dinner warm when all of your recipes aren’t finished cooking at the same time.
The Countertops
After we had all of the new appliances installed, we had our countertops mapped out and measured to replace them with new LG HI-MACS in the Passo style.
We just went through the design services team in the Lowe’s countertop section for all of that, and it was as simple as going in, picking out the style we liked best, and then scheduling the rest.
It’s a solid surface counter that’s certified GreenGuard so it makes for a really durable, easy to clean, non-porous, and healthy option.
We opted to extend the width of island to be more suitable for bar stools and also created an infinity edge out of the countertops. Aside from having appliances that make me feel like a Queen, that’s my favorite part of the kitchen!
Kitchen Cabinets and Hardware
As for the cabinets, we liked the modern look of the white cabinets (the one thing we lucked out on in the kitchen!), so all we did was replace the knobs with simple brushed gold ones.
Even though our appliances are stainless steel and white, I couldn’t resist having a gold faucet to go with the infinity edge island. We used a Kohler pull-out sink faucet with Kohler under-mount white farmhouse sink with gold trimmings.
Kitchen Decor
The rest was simply adding in a few key design pieces like these countertop stools and mix and match marble and gold shelves styled with some of my favorite kitchen accessories.
I love the way it turned out and it really is the heart of our home, especially since it opens up to our dining room and living room all on the same floor. Be sure to let us know what you think!
