For the donuts:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup white granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup dry champagne or Prosecco
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 orange zest
For the glaze:
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- 4 tbsp dry champagne or Prosecco
- 3 tbsp heavy cream
- Sprinkles
To make the donuts:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk together sour cream, champagne, canola oil, egg, and orange zest until well combined.
With a rubber spatula, gently fold the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Spoon batter evenly into prepared donut pan, filling each well about 3/4 full.
Bake for 12-14 minutes, until golden brown or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let donuts cool completely in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
To make the glaze:
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt white chocolate chips and heavy cream, stirring constantly, until smooth.
Remove from heat and whisk in the champagne, 1 tablespoon at a time until combined. Let the glaze cool slightly, until it thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
