Champagne Donuts & White Chocolate Glaze Recipe

Ingredients

For the donuts:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup dry champagne or Prosecco
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 orange zest

For the glaze:

  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 4 tbsp dry champagne or Prosecco
  • 3 tbsp heavy cream
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

To make the donuts:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together sour cream, champagne, canola oil, egg, and orange zest until well combined.
  • With a rubber spatula, gently fold the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Spoon batter evenly into prepared donut pan, filling each well about 3/4 full.
  • Bake for 12-14 minutes, until golden brown or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let donuts cool completely in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

To make the glaze:

  • In a small saucepan over low heat, melt white chocolate chips and heavy cream, stirring constantly, until smooth.
  • Remove from heat and whisk in the champagne, 1 tablespoon at a time until combined. Let the glaze cool slightly, until it thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.

To assemble the donuts:

  • Spoon about 3-4 tablespoons of the white chocolate glaze over each donuts. Let any excess drip off.
  • Decorate with sprinkles while the glaze is still wet. Place on a wire rack to set completely.
