Alas, you shall wonder no more. Because we’re breaking down the very unscientific art of balancing a ton of garnishes on top of one another. Who’s pumped?!
Now this is the part where I’d usually elaborate at the ease of something. But to be honest, this is an act of defying gravity and we wish you lots of luck in recreating them at home.
Just make sure no one sneezes, coughs, or breaths too hard and you might be fine. Ha! But seriously…
What Is A Fruit Freakshake?
A freakshake is an over the top drink. This trend originated in Australia and is commonly made as a fruit drink or a milkshake.
The concept of freakshakes is to go crazy and pile as many toppings as you can into a drink. This is what makes freakshakes so Instagram worthy and fun!
Ingredients And Materials Needed To Make Fruit Freakshakes
- Every crazy fruit you can find at the market
- Additional accouterments such as fruit picks
- Cute glassware — Ours are Blendo and a straw!
- A drill for the coconut shell
How To Make Fruit Freakshakes
First things first, be sure to fill your glass at the very beginning cause there’s no going back after you’ve stacked them a mile high!
Next, you’re going to need a sturdy base for the fruit to balance on. For ours, we used whole coconut halves with a hole drilled in the bottom for the straw to stick through. After all we want to still be able to drink the thing!
Once you have the base and straw in place, just start stacking!
We picked mini champagne grapes, watermelon quarters, diced mango with the peel flipped inside out, star cut kiwi halves, lemon and lime halves, star fruit, pineapple leaves, etc, etc. to top ours with.
Basically you can’t screw these up unless it falls over, so if you’re a Jenga pro, you’re going to love it! Have you all ever made freakshakes at home before? It’s PRETTY freaking fun if you haven’t tried them yet!
