When it comes to BBQ’ing, full days out by the pool, or the 4th of July, the easier the dessert or snack prep is, the better. That either makes me super lazy or slightly genius (when it comes to being a pro at relaxing, that is). I’m not sure which yet, but regardless, this funfetti dessert chips recipe will definitely be all the rage when it comes to curing a quick sweet tooth after a day in the sun. The bonus part is you can use half of your bag of Kettle Brand chips (our personal favorite brand, especially the sriracha!) as a traditional side for burgers, and the other half of the bag for whipping up what might be the easiest dessert of all time.

Of course, if I’m going to actually cook make something, I have to go big on the delivery, so I took it a little step further by making dipped waffle cones holders for the dessert chips. Because you know, I have to make it as crazy looking as possible for added effect, of course…

Ingredients:

  • Kettle Brand Sea Salt Chips
  • White chocolate for melting
  • 3/4 cup Funfetti cake mix
  • Sprinkles
  • Gel food coloring (optional if you want to add a little umph to you chips!)
  • Waffle cones (optional only if you want to serve them in the edible cups!)

First, melt the white chocolate and add in the cake mix and stir well. Dip the chips in to the chocolate (or drizzle the chocolate over them if you want to be super quick about it!), and then add the sprinkles on top of the chocolate, and let them dry on wax paper.

For the cones, I just use the same chocolate and cake mixture to dip the cones in and topped with sprinkles too!

Since it’s all in the delivery, you can use a cooling rack you already have laying around as a simple display for them at your next party, or even fill small bowls with a bundle of them for kids to grab and go!

Do you all have any crazy Summer gathering desserts you make in a pinch?! We almost always have Kettle Brand chips on hand, so this is definitely a keeper for us.

  2. Love this idea! I actually just signed up to bring a dessert to our 4th of July party. How many waffle cones did you need to fit all your chips?
