Little Sugar & Cloth: We’re Expecting Baby Number 2!

We’re excited to announce that we’re expecting baby number two coming December 2019! Apparently, we love having winter/holiday babies, ha!

Gwen was a very happy, unexpected surprise! This time around, we just decided we were ready to let it happen when it was meant to, but that’s when the confusing part started…

We found out I was pregnant at the very beginning of April after having a few symptoms. Suddenly those symptoms got replaced with lots of heavy cramping and some spotting, so we made an appointment with the OB very early on.

I wrote a little about it on Instagram right here. Based on my period and timing I should have been about 6+ weeks but the ultrasound was showing I was closer to 4 or 5 weeks and no baby or yolk sac to be seen.

We had our appointment with the OB right before heading on our trip to Turks and Caicos which was both a welcome distraction and bad timing for trying to relax with the unknowns. Essentially the doctor told us to hang tight and come back in a few more weeks unless bleeding got worse.

While all of this was happening I also wasn’t “feeling pregnant” or any other symptoms besides major cramping. Two weeks later I was scheduled for a follow-up appointment and we thankfully got to see the heartbeat! All the sudden I was also measuring a week ahead and was back on a track for a December 13th due date with much less fear of a miscarriage.

Having gone back to my twelve-week appointment, we were then measuring behind a week and a changed due date for of December 23rd even though we were still able to see a heartbeat still. This is shaping up to be quite the emotional roller coaster for our little family of three, if you can’t tell by now!

Somewhere around week 9 I started feeling ALLLLL THE NAUSEA. To the point of needing a very expensive prescription medicine twice daily to get through, and I was still getting sick even with the medicine.

Fast forward to now and I’m somewhere between 16-18 weeks and finally starting to feel more like myself! The bump is definitely hitting early this second time around, I have to say!

I’ll definitely be sharing some progress updates along the way as I did with Gwen, but it’s definitely ringing true already that things feel way different the second time around!

Next up, we’re sharing whether or not Gwen will be having a little brother or sister, stay tuned!
