Our studio workshop with Laura Hooper Calligraphy!

I’ve been just a teeny tiny bit behind on sharing my recent (half-finished) DIY projects after coming back from Tulum and getting everything prettied up for the first Sugar & Cloth studio workshop with Laura Hooper Calligraphy, so bear with me until our regularly scheduled programming! Don’t be too disappointed though, this recap of our first workshop should inspired you just as much.

I’ve decided several things after yesterday. One being that I LOVE styling events, more than teaching them myself probably, and second, there are going to be plenty of Sugar & Cloth workshops coming up in the near future. It’s just too fun not to!

Do you recognize these little golden animals? That’s right, I’ve been busting them out here and there (especially a styled shoot coming up that you’ll love!), but they also make for perfect dessert card holders. Especially when Laura works her calligraphy magic on them! Seriously, it looks fake, I don’t even know where to begin.

It was really, really encouraging to have a sold out class our very first go. This is mainly because Laura is awesome, I’m sure, but I think it’s great that we’re creating a community for this sort of thing in Houston!

Maria of Maxit Flower Design provided all of the florals. As it turns out all you have to do is show up at our studio with peonies and we’ll be instant best friends. Clearly she sensed this.

Of course there would be no “Sugar” in Sugar & Cloth if cupcakes of some kind weren’t involved, so Sweet provided the desserts for the night (these little fondant hearts get me every time!). Lucky (and unlucky) for me, they’re opening a new cafe, Tout Suite, literally one minute down the street from the studio. You realize what this means right? I’m going to have to make wallet sized photos of myself to pass out to employees to know not to over serve me. That or I’m going to need an engraved gold loyalty card 911.

And last but not least, you know I have to represent my other day job, Smilebooth. Let’s be honest, it’s not a party until there’s a photobooth, am I right?Sugar & Cloth studio workshop with Laura Hooper Calligraphy | sugarandcloth.com Sugar & Cloth studio workshop with Laura Hooper Calligraphy | sugarandcloth.comSugar & Cloth studio workshop with Laura Hooper Calligraphy | sugarandcloth.com

If there’s a particular class you’d like to attend (or teach!), feel free to let us know!

I am so absolutely amazed, memorized, thrilled…could go on and on with words to describe how lovely your studio has transpired and how excited I am for you to have your first event sold out!!!!!!!!!!!

My first teen Christmas present was a calligraphy set and I loved it!! It definitely takes a lot of practice but this event brought back fond memories.

A huge applause to you and all that attended and helped support your first event!!!!
