With as much work that went into making these cactus macarons happen for Create & Cultivate, I couldn’t let them go without taking a few glamour shots in the studio first! I mean, they were just too pretty not to. Plus I’m now determined to find a reason to use these metallic gold boxes for everything we make.

They’re made the same way as our DIY cactus macarons tutorial, except this time we went heavy on the pink and made the display versions extra detailed. I love the way the giant pink ones turned out!..

And for those of you looking to snag some of the cute brass planters, not to worry! They’re super cheap, and you find them here and here.

  1. These pink cactus macarons are absolutely adorable! I love how you’ve combined such a delicate French technique with a fun, playful design — the cactus shape is so creative and the pink color is just gorgeous. Your macaron tips are spot on, especially the advice about letting the shells rest before baking to get those perfect feet. I’ve been intimidated by macarons for so long but your step-by-step makes them feel achievable.

I’ve been getting into casual browser games lately while macaron shells rest and ganache sets. Head Football has become my go-to — it’s this simple physics-based soccer game that’s surprisingly addictive for quick breaks. My baking friends and I compete for high scores during our virtual macaron bake-alongs, and it’s become the perfect way to pass those 30-minute resting periods without hovering over the kitchen counter. The matches are short enough that I never forget to preheat the oven!

Can’t wait to try these for my next desert-themed party. Thanks for the beautiful and delicious inspiration!

  2. My first thought when seeing these was, “WHAT THE HECK, ASHLEY?! HOW CAN ONE HUMAN BE SO AMAZING?!”

And then I gave it a second and was like, dumb question. It’s Sugar & Cloth, what did I expect?!

Seriously. These are amazing and the photography is stunning. Those planters slay me.
