As you may have noticed, we’re clearly no strangers to pattern and color around here— and neither are our friends at IZZE!

As much as I love scheming them up on my own, sometimes it’s better to just let the pro’s handle the intricate artwork. So we made these DIY statement printed plates from retro fabric prints for our newest Friendsday Night installment!

The beauty of these pretty little plates is that they require almost no artistic ability. But you’ll still always be ready for an impromptu girls night in impressive style.

Plus, they’re reusable glass plates that you can hand wash and keep on the ready.

Not to worry, we still have your staple IZZE cocktail recipe to pair them with, too! This time we went with a Peachy-Tini!

How To Make DIY Printed Plates

Lay your plates onto fabric pieces of your choice and trace around each one leaving a little excess fabric around the edge.

Cut out one of the circles and make sure it has a cushion of excess fabric around the edges when placed against the plate, and then cut the rest of the circles.

Using a foam brush and mod podge, paint a thick layer of mod podge onto the patterned/front side of the fabric.

Place the plate on the center of the covered piece of fabric and press down firmly.

Smooth out all of the edges and bubbles so that the fabric is laying smoothly against the plate.

Let it dry for a few minutes, and then cut the excess fabric off using the edge of the plate as a guide for making the edges even.

Once it’s dry enough to touch, flip the plate over and paint the backside of the fabric with a thick coat of mod podge and let it dry thoroughly.

This will make the fabric completely coated so that it can be gently handwashed and reused.

The sky is the limit on how many variations you can make of these.

We were inspired by IZZE’s bright-hearted color palette for design guidance, but if you can find a fabric print of it, then it’s game on!

Wouldn’t it be really cute to make custom versions of these for your holiday place settings?

  1. THIS IS SO GENIUS. Seriously I am Obsessed! I design my own fabrics and host paries often and this is such a nice way to make an event stand out. Is there a trick to what type of fabric base you should start with? I sEE you linked to the basic cotton on spoonflower, so I guess I can just use that? Can’t wait to try this!!

  2. These are so wonderful, I love the idea of being able to perfectly match plates with party decor.

I have to ask though, where is that yellow fabric from and do you know the designer? I love it.
