Christmas is my all-time favorite holiday! If I decorate for nothing else the entire year, I will still go ALL OUT in December. Admittedly, it’s not quite as picture-perfect as this holiday setup when my cat thinks he’s a jaguar climbing a tree in the wild with the tree topper being his prey, but one can pretend, right? That said, when Martha Stewart wants you to style a Christmas setting with their line of holidays products at Home Depot, you bust out all of the stops!
Naturally it wouldn’t be Christmas around here without a little DIY or two, so I made a giant pom pom DIY tree topper for our holiday corner inspired by this DIY pom pom wall hang! It’s actually super easy to make, and it goes perfectly with the retro Martha Stewart ornament designs…

I’ve wanted one of the woven wall hangs that are popping up everywhere forever, but the honest truth is I can’t really swing purchasing wall art in that price range at the moment. I’m also 120% positive that I don’t have the attention span for learning how to weave one, so I decided to make my own version of a wooly (that’s a technical word right?) wall piece myself with this DIY pom pom wall hang.
Lucky for me I happen to be dating a guy that loves to help, and he reallllly loves to make pom poms (it’s true, he says it’s relaxing), so this turned out to be a not-so-time consuming project, but you can also purchase pre made poms on Etsy too! While you’re saving yourself all kinds of pom pom making time you can now be pondering what Jared is going to look like in thirty years with knitting gear in hand, cause clearly that’s where he’s headed (love you, babe!)…
If this sweet little DIY pom pom cake doesn’t brighten your Thursday, I don’t know what will! Unless you had doughnuts for breakfast, in which case you owe the rest of us good vibes instead, but I’m not pointing fingers. Nonetheless, be sure to check out this ridiculously simple cake tutorial over on Julep today.
In case you’ve been wondering what’s happening behind the scenes at S+C lately, it can pretty much all be summed up in a very graphic image of me racing like a mad woman to finish deadlines for the rest of this week and next. I’ve also decided that I HAVE to get an intern or thirty. What are your alls thoughts on interns? Do they have to be through a college for credit, paid well, not paid at all if it’s through the university, any horror stories of things you wish you would’ve known before hand, is it easier just to pay for an assistant, do I need to preface working for us that I may or may not cry over cupcakes on certain days? Wow, if you stuck with me through that run-on sentence you’re already hired!
