Made of light beer, vodka and lemonade, this Summer Beer recipe is refreshing, super citrusy and delicious.
The Summer Beer is a super refreshing and tasty cocktail that is perfect to bring to your next BBQ or friend’s gathering. Because it’s made and served in a large pitcher (like our Mojitio Pitcher), it’s ideal for a large crowd.
What Does Summer Beer Taste Like?
The Summer Beer features citrus lemonade flavors with a light beer aftertaste and fizz. Optionally, it can be made stronger with the addition of vodka. You can use store-bought lemonade. However, we made our own fresh lemonade with a special ingredient, simple syrup.Looking for more summer cocktails specifically for a party? What Ingredients are Needed to Make Summer Beer?
- Light beer of choice
- Lemonade — Store bought bottled or from lemonade concentrate is fine. But if you have time to make your own, see below.
- Vodka — Optional, but a nice addition
- Lemon slices — Optional for garnishing
- Ice
How to Make the Perfect Homemade Lemonade
To make your own lemonade, all you need is 1 lemon (preferably organic), 2-3 tablespoons of simple syrup, and 2 cups of water.
Instructions:
1 — Wash the lemon and cut it into quarters with the skin on. Remove any seeds. Leaving the skin on results in a much brighter and more intense lemonade, thanks to the essential oils present in the lemon zest.
2 — Put the quartered lemon, water, and simple syrup in a food processor or blender, and blend until a smooth consistency is achieved.
3 — Strain with a fine mesh strainer to remove the pulp. Store in the fridge until ready to use.
How to Make the Summer Beer in a Pitcher
1 — In a pitcher, add ice, lemon slices, vodka and lemonade, and mix well.
2 — Pour in the beer and mix gently. Serve with ice and lemon slices. Top the glass with more beer for a fizzier drink if desired.
Recipe Notes and Tips
- How to avoid a flat drink: With time the fizz will naturally disappear, so if you want to have a fizzier drink, top it up with a bit more beer. Instead of regular ice cubes, opt for frozen lemonade ice cubes.
- If you want to prep it in advance: Mix the lemonade and vodka beforehand, and store in the fridge. Only add in the beer right before serving.
- Ways to experiment with this recipe: If you’re feeling adventurous, try making variations of this recipe with pink lemonade, limeade or lime soda. And if you are going for lime flavors, opt for lime slices instead.
