A Living Room Makeover We Styled for Loloi Anastasia Rugs
We’re really excited to share this gorgeous living room makeover in collaboration with Loloi Rugs using their new Anastasia collection. See all the details here!
I’m really, really excited to share today’s post with you! I love DIYs as much as the next gal, but it’s even more fun getting to style an entire space that incorporates my projects (can you spot the DIY elements here?!),
And seeing all of the little pieces come together one by one. I have to say; I’m in love with the way this living room makeover we styled for Loloi Rugs turned out!
They asked us to style a space we love featuring their new Anastasia collection as part of a design competition where you can vote for your favorite room makeover, and the winner will receive a monetary donation to the charity of their choice.
For those of you that have been reading the blog for a while, you may know that this is also the perfect chance for me to be able to donate and raise awareness for the Fibro Foundation after losing my sweet cousin Max last year to fibrolamellar cancer at the age of 17, so I was excited to get started!
Before we get to the rest of the voting business, I want to share all of the details of the new space with you first!…
Living Room Makeover for Loloi Rugs Anastasia Collection at Montrose Shop
For the foundation of the room, we chose this rug from the Anastasia collection, as well as several woven Loloi pillows in neutral colors with pops of blue to bring out some of the subtle blue hues in the rug.
For being high-end quality, it’s surprisingly affordable and crazy soft (I’m talking baby soft, you guys!), so it’s perfect for those of you with littles running around.
It’s also made with a fiber combination of polypropylene and polyester (two of the most durable and stain-resistant fibers), which means less worry about spills from kids and fur kids alike.
As for the space itself, I knew from the get-go that I wanted to style the living space from one of our favorite shops in Houston, Montrose Shop, which has this really amazing bright white room to work with. I’m also always a sucker for a white fireplace!
They already had a great leather sofa and wicker accent chair that we loved and kept in the final room, just wanted to add a few more pieces of interest that tie in the traditional and the modern while still sticking to our bright aesthetic with pops of color.
Living Room Makeover with Friends in the House
To tie all of the pieces together, we enlisted the help of a few talented friends here locally. Our friend Beth DeLozier has a serious eye for design (apparently, that’s key when you stage homes and own a shop full of pretty things for a living, who knew?! — Just kidding)
And since we had to makeover the space while Montrose Shop was closed, I knew she’d be the perfect person to help me make quick design decisions and perfect the placement of my crazy ideas really quickly!
Secondly, we’ve become big fans of working with Kate of Indre by Design, who has some of the best mid-century designer furniture in Houston.
We knew she’d have the perfect accent pieces to pull together the room, like this amazing Aksel Kjersgaard bench with storage which totally made this space unique and well-balanced.
Living Room Makeover – Creating a Space that Reflects Our Unique Style
It wouldn’t have been a Sugar & Cloth-styled space without a few touches of gold, pops of color, and DIY here and there.
For the gold, we opted for a marble-topped coffee table with a gold pedestal and gold cocktail tray on top, and for the color, I painted simple ceramic vessels in subtle shades to become a focal point on the mantel.
Additionally, you can add these DIY metallic gold stool bases for an added touch. Thanks to Beth, we actually narrowed down which colors in record time!
I also painted a watercolor canvas in shades of teal and blue based on this DIY, as well as incorporated our DIY mid-century wall clock above the mantel, which also has a few gold touches.
Overall I really, really loved the way everything came together and how the subtlety of the silver/plum rug made the space feel more traditional while also having a modern mix with lots of textures.
P.s.- For all of our fellow Texas lovers, Loloi is also a family-owned Texas-based brand alongside us and Montrose Shop!
