Tips to Using Chocolate Eggs as Shot Glasses
To turn the hollow chocolate eggs into shot glasses:
1 — Cut off the tops: It will be a lot easier to do so with a heated serrated knife. Simply use the stove flame or a lighter, and pass the knife a couple of times through the fire.
2 — Then, lay the eggs horizontally, cut off the pointy top side: Heating the knife will help cut the chocolate eggs in an easier and cleaner cut.

Fun Ways to Serve the Easter Egg Shots
Chocolate eggs are not as sturdy as shot glasses. So you’ll need some type of structure to sit the eggs in. We served ours in a basket lined with tissue paper to mimic a nest. You can also serve them in a martini glass with Easter grass, in a ceramic egg tray or egg cups.
How to Make Easter Egg Shots
1 — Prep the chocolate egg by cutting off the top.
2 — In a cocktail shaker with ice, add the caramel vodka, crème de cacao, and Baileys. Shake well until chilled.
4 — Pour the mixture into your chocolate egg.
5 — Optional: Top with whipped cream and cacao powder.

Recipe Notes and Tips
- Can you substitute caramel vodka for regular plain vodka?: Yes, if you don’t have any caramel vodka on hand, you can opt for regular plain vodka. However, if you still want that caramel profile, then add a splash of caramel syrup. Vanilla vodka is another option to experiment with.
- Can you make these shots in advance?: Yes, you can prep the cocktail mix and chocolate eggs in advance. Make sure to chill them both in the fridge until they’re ready to be served.
- Serve immediately: Don’t let them sit too long—chocolate eggs can start to soften or leak. Chill them right before serving for best results.
