What Does it Taste Like?

These super colorful shots taste exactly like Sweet Tarts!

They’re sweet, fruity, a bit tart and so good that we bet you will go for doubles and triples!

Most cocktail recipes that are inspired by candies (like the Jolly Rancher Shot, Lemon Drop Shot, Pink Starburst Shot and Gummy Bear Shot) rarely contain the actual candy.

And this is the same case for the Sweet Tart Shots.

Depending on the recipe, the flavors can vary.

The Yellow Sweet Tart Shots typically have a pineapple-lime flavor.

Red Sweet Tart always take the form of any red fruits (usually raspberry).

And the Blue Sweet Tart tend to have a citrus orange kick.

Ingredients Needed to Make Sweet Tart Shots

For the Yellow Sweet Tart Shots:

The ingredients for this shot will be the base for the other two recipes —

Raspberry vodka — You can also use regular plain vodka, but the raspberry adds depth and amps up the candy flavor.

So if possible, grab a bottle of raspberry vodka or even raspberry liqueur for this recipe!

Pineapple juice — For the yellow color and pineapple flavor.

Sweet and sour mix — To add the tart kick and to balance the sweetness.

For the Red Sweet Tart Shots:

The previous ingredients in addition to —

Grenadine — Just a dash gives a cherry raspberry flavor and bright redness.

You can also switch it for cranberry juice. And in that case, add half an ounce versus of the few drops of grenadine.

For the Blue Sweet Tart Shots:

Blue Curacao — A staple in cocktail making, it is bright blue and tastes like sour oranges.

So it’s the perfect ingredient to add to the pineapple base to get a delicious blue variation that tastes like sour orange candy.

Like with the grenadine, only a dash of it is needed!

The grenadine and Blue Curaçao are very potent and concentrated flavors, so a bit goes a long way.

Recipe Notes and Tips

To make this recipe in a big batch for a party:

With a measuring cup instead of a jigger, use equal parts raspberry vodka, pineapple juice and sweet and sour mix.

Start slow with grenadine and Blue Curaçao and add more if needed.

These two ingredients are quite potent and can overpower the rest of the flavors.

What if you don’t have any grenadine on hand?

For the Red Sweet Tarts Shots, you can sub out the grenadine for cranberry juice.

The ratio should now be 1 part raspberry vodka, 1 part pineapple juice, 1 part sweet and sour mix and 1/2 part of cranberry juice.
