This easy cocktail combines multiple spirits with blue curaçao to create that signature electric blue color. It’s perfect for parties, beach days, or anytime you want a drink that stands out.

What is a Blue Motorcycle?
A Blue Motorcycle drink contains 5 spirits (vodka, rum, tequila, gin, blue curaçao) a sweet and sour mix (lemon juice and simple syrup) and soda. The result? A strong, citrus-forward cocktail with a smooth finish and a bold blue hue.
This cocktail goes by a few names, including the Blue Motorcycle, Adios Motherfucker (AMF) and Goodbye Motherfucker, playful nod to saying “goodbye” (in Spanish), since just one can pack a serious punch. You’ll surely be headed for a blackout.
What Does a Blue Motorcycle Taste Like?
This blue cocktail recipe is:
- Citrusy and slightly sweet
- Smooth despite the multiple spirits
- Refreshing with a subtle tropical note from the curaçao
It’s stronger than it tastes. So sip slowly!

Ingredients You’ll Need
- White rum
- Silver tequila
- Vodka
- Gin
- Blue curaçao: This is what gives the cocktail its signature bright blue color, and it’s also a key ingredient in drinks like an Irish trash can and fish bowl cocktail.
- Sweet and sour mix: While store-bought works in a pinch, we highly recommend making your own. Freshly squeezed citrus juice delivers a brighter, more vibrant flavor that really elevates the cocktail. See how to make a homemade sweet and sour mix below.
- Lemon-lime soda: To top
- Lemon wedge: For garnish
- Cocktail cherry: For garnish
How to Make Homemade Sweet and Sour Mix
To make a fresh sweet and sour mix, simply combine equal parts freshly squeezed lemon juice and simple syrup.
For the best flavor, we recommend making only what you need so the citrus stays bright and fresh. If you have leftovers, store them in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Just note that the flavor will gradually lose its freshness and acidity over time.
You can also swap the lemon juice for lime juice for a slightly different citrus profile.

How to Make a Blue Motorcycle
1 — In a cocktail shaker with ice, add all the liquors and sweet and sour mix. Shake vigorously for about 30–60 seconds, or until the mixture is well chilled.
2 — Pour the chilled cocktail mixture in a tall glass filled with ice.
3 — Top with soda.
4 — Garnish with a lemon wedge and maraschino cherry on a cocktail pick. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Recipe Notes and Tips
- Use fresh citrus: Fresh lemon juice makes a huge difference in flavor.
- Adjust sweetness: Add more or less simple syrup depending on your taste.
- Go lighter if needed: Reduce the alcohol slightly for a more balanced drink.
- Chill everything: A colder cocktail tastes smoother and more refreshing.
- Cocktail shaker: You may simply pour the ingredients directly in the glass, and then, stir. However, we when making a Blue Motorcycle drink at home, we prefer a cocktail shaker to fully combine the ingredients.
