We first tried out a Nutella brownie recipe a few weeks ago for a Super Bowl party. And they were SUPER easy to make, but didn’t quite pack enough sweetness for us.

So ditch the complicated recipes and whip up a batch of these Nutella brownies. Your taste buds (and sweet tooth) will thank you!
Ingredients Needed
- Nutella — We are so addicted to this chocolate hazelnut spread and even used it as the key ingredient in our Nutella stuffed monkey bread. They’re also extra delicious when paired with strawberry crepes.
- All purpose flour — Or can be substituted with gluten free flour.
- Large eggs
- Milk chocolate chips — You can substitute them for semi sweet chocolate chips. Just keep in mind that they are not as sweet as milk chocolate.
- Espresso powder — Optional to add a subtle depth of flavor and enhance the chocolate notes.
How to Make Fudgy Nutella Brownies
1 — Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 inch square baking pan with parchment paper. Or opt for cupcake pan like ours for mini desserts. This will make it easier to remove the brownies later.
2 — In a large bowl, whisk together the Nutella and eggs until smooth and well combined. A hand mixer can make this step easier, but a good whisking by hand works too!
3 — Sift in the flour and espresso powder (if using) and fold it gently into the Nutella mixture with a rubber spatula. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the brownies tough. A few streaks of flour are okay.
4 — Stir in the milk chocolate chips.
5 — Pour the brownie batter into your prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs. Don’t overbake, as you want the brownies to be fudgy in the center. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan to room temperature before cutting and serving. This allows them to set properly.
Recipe Notes and Tips
- A tiny pinch of salt can be added to the batter enhance the sweetness of the chocolate.
- We made the mistake of overcooking the first batch. So be sure to keep an eye on them and remove them from the oven once you start to see the edges hardening/crusting up.You actually want the middle to be a bit gooey!
- For any extra chocolate hazelnut flavor, add a swirl of Nutella to the top as icing.
- Other topping ideas include dusting confectioner’s sugar or cocoa powder, adding chocolate chips or frosting buttercream icing. Kids would love a sprinkles topping as we did with our heart shaped brownies recipe.
- Want a crackly top? Sprinkle a little sea salt over the batter before baking.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
