3 Ingredient Brazilian Limeade Cocktail Recipe
Beat the heat with a Spiked Brazilian Limeade! This refreshing cocktail blends cachaça (Brazilian rum) with tangy lime juice and a touch of sweetness. Bonus, it only requires three ingredients!
Summer is basically here. Hooray! Once Memorial Day hits, I, Ashley am ready to break out my bathing suit and sit poolside with a drink in my hand!
Who else is with us on this?! During the dog days of summer, we want no-fuss drinks that are easy to whip together. And we definitely don’t want to have to spend valuable beach time cooking syrups, bottling bitters, or roasting fruit.
After we kept seeing Brazilian Limeade pop up, we just had to make it. After blending up a batch, we proceeded to immediately down almost the whole thing. (Don’t judge until you’ve tried it!)
This, to us is a good sign of a great recipe. And the best thing is it only takes a few ingredients to make your own Spiked Brazilian Limeade recipe! Blend up a batch of this cooling cocktail, add hammock, and get ready for pure summer bliss.
What Is Brazilian Limeade?
We’ve seen this refreshing drink referred to as Brazilian Limeade and Brazilian Lemonade. Lemonade? Limeade? What’s the correct name? Neither!
The Portuguese word “limão” actually refers to both lemons and limes. In Brazil, this drink is also nicknamed Swiss Lemonade.
This Spiked Brazilian only requires 3 ingredients — limes, sugar, and the secret ingredient to elevate a simple limeade to the next level: sweetened condensed milk. This stuff is liquid gold! If gold was sweet, creamy, and oh-so-tasty that is!
What could possibly make this tart creamy limeade even better? Booze, my friends, booze. Since this is called Brazilian Limeade, we choose a spirit that hails from the same country: cachaça.
Ingredients Needed
- Large limes — It’s important to use fresh limes as the skins of older limes can become too bitter to use. And you will be using the all of the lime, including the skin.
- Sugar
- Sweetened condensed milk
- Cold water
- Cachaça — Feel free to skip the alcohol if you prefer a mocktail. Substitute the rum for equal amounts of coconut water.
What Is Cachaça?
Cachaça is a popular Brazilian spirit that can also be commonly found in Caipirinhas. It’s clear and spicy yet sweet. Although cachaça is made from sugar cane juice (like rhum agricole), it is not considered a rum. It has a similar flavor profile to some white rums but has more earthy notes.
Play around with it in your favorite rum drinks by replacing the rum called for with cachaça to mix up your summer cocktail go-tos or lemonade recipe.
How to Make a Spiked Brazilian Limeade Cocktail
1 — Cut the limes in half, juice the cut limes, and place the juice in a separate bowl.
2 — Chop up the juiced limes (everything including the skin and white pith) and add water. Then, blend the chopped lime in a blender for 10-15 seconds until most of the large chunks and lime zest are gone.
4 — Strain through a fine mesh strainer.
5 — Pour back the mixture in the blender jar with the reserved lime juice, sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and cachaça. Blend again.
6 — Pour and serve over ice. Garnish with a lime wheel.
