Hi Guys! It’s Erin from Francois et Moi here today with a fun and summery lumbar pillow project you can whip up in just an afternoon!
I love keeping my space feeling fresh and current from season to season with throw pillows–they’re inexpensive and simple to switch out as one season fades into the next, and now that summer is in high gear, I’ve totally got flamingos on the brain (and I know Ashley does, too!)! To me, nothing says summer like a pretty pink flamingo, so I’ve created this super simple DIY no-sew flamingo lumbar pillow to fill the void!
Materials:
- 3 sheets of ink jet iron-on transfer paper for light fabric
- Flamingo printable
- Ink jet printer
- Scissors
- IKEA VITFJÄRIL lumbar pillow cover. We’ll be using the back side of the cover as the face of the pillow.
- Iron
Print 3 copies of the flamingo PDF on iron transfer paper, then carefully cut out each of the 3 flamingos so there’s only an 1/8” border around the flamingo.
Place the flamingos in a row equally spaced and face down on the backside of the pillow. (The side without the pleating.) Set your iron to the highest setting without steam. Iron the flamingos for 60 seconds each giving special attention to corners and edges.
Let the flamingos cool completely, and carefully peel off the paper backing on each of them. Stuff the cover with a pillow form and lounge away!
The pillow cover’s lightweight, linen-esque fabric makes it the perfect summer backdrop to the flamingo motifs!
And it’s that easy! The end result is a pretty and feminine lumbar pillow that satisfies the summer flamingo craving in all of us. And don’t worry, the pillow cover is washable in cold water so you can actually use it. Just make sure to turn it inside out before popping it in your washing machine!
Great tips. Having a blog is really important to keep customers engaged, especially when they’re constantly bombarded with information. It’s tough to create good content when it feels like it’s all already been done!
Thank you so much, HieuJa for your kind words!
