Sweet Potato Nachos Recipe
Sweet Potato Nachos Recipe — Sweet potato nachos make for a quick and easy sweet and savory game day snack.
Football season is upon us. While I wouldn’t consider myself a sports fanatic, I did marry into a family that is. So watch party gatherings are the norm right now in the Sugar & Cloth casa.
I’m more all about hosting and (eating) the snacks and bites. And my sweet potato nachos have been a hit!
Sweet potato nachos are the perfect sweet and savory game day snack that you can literally make in less than 20 minutes from opening the bag to taking them out of the oven…
These gluten-free sweet potato dessert nachos with Late July Multigrain Tortilla Chips are SO freaking good, and I’m sharing the recipe below!
How To Make Sweet Potato Nachos
1 — Preheat the oven (or toaster oven if you’re making a mini portion!) to 350F. Lay the sweet potato tortilla chips flat onto a baking sheet. I go with these chips because they’re organic, vegan, non-gmo and gluten-free!
2 — Mash 2 cups of softened sweet potatoes with a fork. I used 2 cans of organic sweet potatoes. Then, add 3 tablespoons of organic honey and a few dashes of salt and pepper.
3 — Stir it up and pour the sweet potatoes over the chips and top with mini marshmallows.
4 — Bake for 10 minutes or until the marshmallows are toasted, then serve! I also drizzled a little extra honey on top before serving, but that’s up to you!
Tools Needed To Make Sweet Potato Nachos
This recipe is anything but complex. All you need is an oven, baking sheet, bowl and fork! All simple tools which you hopefully already have in the kitchen, right?!?
Tip: Whenever I use a baking sheet, I always line it with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. This makes clean up way easier.

Canned Sweet Potato Versus Fresh Sweet Potato
For a quick recipe, I used canned organic sweet potatoes. But if time is not an issue, you can definitely opt for fresh sweet potatoes.
If you do opt for fresh sweet potato, slice the sweet potato first before mashing it. This will speed up the process.
Also, three medium sweet potatoes should make the 2 cups needed for this recipe.
Additional Toppings For Sweet Potato Nachos
If you’re in more of a savory versus sweet mood, simply swap out the marshmallow toppings and add any of these ingredients below:
- Shredded chicken
- Sour cream
- Green onions
- A dash of garlic powder and chili powder
Add them all, and you’ve now got yourself loaded sweet potato nachos for lunch or dinner!
Why Sweet Potato Nachos Are Healthier?
When you think of nachos, you typically think of corn tortilla chips. Sweet potato chips are a healthier alternative since they’re not processed nor salty (aka high sodium)!
I specifically love the Late July Sweet Potato Multigrain Tortilla Chips because they’re organic, vegan, non-gmo and gluten-free.
Instead of using cheesing, sweet potatoes are also high in protein and fiber. They’re packed with minerals, calcium and vitamins.
Let’s also not forget that they’re sweet. And no one can deny that I don’t have a sweet tooth. Who doesn’t love sweet potatoes?!?
Though it’s not the healthiest when it’s topped with marshmallows, I still consider this a “healthy recipe” when compared to the average nacho recipes.
