Looking for a delicious frozen margarita recipe that’s easy to make at home? Our Frozen Triple Citrus Margarita recipe uses simple ingredients and comes together in a blender in just minutes.

This creation is an inspiration of the margaritas that we enjoyed on our recent British Isles cruise vacation. We’ve done the Mediterranean cruise and Scandinavian cruise. And this is our fourth trip on the Princess Cruises.

Our absolute favorite place to sit and have a cocktail is in the evening at the back bar on Deck 16 on the Royal Princess. Almost all of their ships have a great bar there to be able to enjoy the view while you sail off from each port. And it truly is our spirit place!

This particular boozy delight is bursting with fresh flavors from lime, lemon, and orange, all perfectly balanced with tequila and a touch of orange liqueur. It boasts similar flavors to our kumquat orange margarita.

With the option to add a salty rim, fresh citrus wheels, or a spicy kick from jalapeño slices, you can customize this margarita to your perfect taste.

So ditch the store-bought margarita mixes and artificial flavors. This homemade Frozen Triple Citrus Margarita is sure to become your new go-to frozen cocktail recipe. Invite some friends over, fire up the blender, and get ready to experience a taste of paradise!

Ingredients Needed

  • Tequila
  • Grand Marnier — Don’t have any? Substitute with another orange liqueur like Cointreau, triple sec or orange Curaçao.
  • Fresh lime juice — One of the key ingredients for any margarita. You can ommit the other juices but not lime juice because it provide some tartness and the signature tang.
  • Fresh lemon juice
  • Fresh orange juice
  • Simple syrup — Subsitute with agave nectar if desired. Agave syrup has a very subtle, slightly earthy flavor profile. We personally prefer the neutral taste of simple syrup. Plus, it’s so easy to make your own!
  • Ice
  • Lime wedge — Optional for garnish
  • Orange wheel — Optional for garnish
  • Fresh jalapeño slices — Optional for garnish
  • Salt — Optional for rimming the glass

How to Make a Frozen Margarita

1 — Optional: If you’d like a salt rim, run a lime wedge around the rim of a margarita glass (or any glass you like) and dip it in salt.

2 — In a blender, combine the tequila, Grand Marnier, citrus juices, simple syrup, and ice cubes. Blend until smooth and frosty.

3 — Pour the frozen margarita into your prepared glass (or any glass you like).

4 — Optional: Add a lime wedge and orange wheel, and/or stir in a couple of jalapeño slices for an added kick.

Recipe Notes and Tips

  • No fresh citrus? In a pinch, you can use bottled juice, but freshly squeezed is definitely preferred for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the ice: You can always add or take away the amount of ice you use depending on how thick you prefer your margaritas to be.
  • Too thick after blending? Add a splash of water or orange juice to thin it out.
  • Can this be made ahead of time? Yes! And it can be stored in the freezer for up to 24 hours before serving. Just be aware that the texture may become slightly slushy as it sits. To refresh the texture, give it a quick whirl in the blender before serving.
  • Looking for non-alcoholic alternative? Omit the alcohol and substitute with addtional lemon or orange juice.
  • What to serve with margaritas? Snack on chips and salsa or guacamole. Pair these frozen margaritas with Mexican food, such as tacos, enchiladas, cinnamon churros or a hearty bowl of chicken tortilla soup
