If you haven’t had a green smoothie before, I, Alex of Delish Knowledge, promise it doesn’t taste like grass! While this one contains a full serving of iron-rich spinach leaves, it actually tastes like a blueberry smoothie.
Sure, I love eating healthy. But I want my smoothie to actually taste delicious.
And that’s the real secret in making them a habit, especially starting out the new year…
After a period of indulgence, it’s tempting to get back on track with some type of detox. I completely understand the feeling.
After spending the last few weeks backpacking around New Zealand and French Polynesia, I’m ready to get back to my healthy self again ASAP.
Unfortunately, most of the commercial “detox” programs out there don’t actually cleanse or detoxify you. Your body does a pretty good job of doing that for you, without the assistance of any green juice.
To up the nutrient factor, I’m throwing in a tablespoon of chia seeds, loaded with protein, fiber and omega-3 fatty acids.
As cinnamon is a great source of antioxidants and has been shown to help naturally lower blood sugars that gets thrown into the mixture as well.

Unsweetened almond milk
Baby spinach leaves
Large ripe frozen banana, chopped into large chunks
Frozen blueberries
Almond butter
Chia seeds
Ground cinnamon
Ice cubes
How To Make A Detox Green Smoothie
Add all ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth.
Easy as that! Cheers to a beverage that does a body (seriously) good.
