What Does the Love Potion Taste Like?

The Love Potion is red, sweet, fruity, and a bit tangy, the perfect balance for a great night with your loved one.

It contains raspberry vodka and strawberry gin (as the main spirits), strawberry juice, and sweet and sour mix.

Of course, a dash of passion and a generous sprinkle of magic for good measure are always welcomed too.

Ingredients You’ll Need to Make the Love Potion

Raspberry vodka — Our brand of choice is Absolut Raspberry. This is a great liquor to have in stock at home since it’s also used in a Sweet Tart Shot, Grateful Dead, Giggle Juice and more.

Strawberry gin — It is pink, sweet, and super fruity. It’s also featured in the Rose Martini.

Strawberry juice — Bottled works fine. But fresh is always best. If you make it at home, make sure to strain the pulp, so you remove all the tiny seeds.

Sweet and sour mix — Store bought is fine. But since it’s that easy and quick to make at home (and cheap!), it is worth it to make it from scratch. Check out our recipe here.

Recipe Notes and Tips

A fun way to serve the cocktail:

For presentation purposes, you can prep the Love Potion beforehand and store it in a fancy potion-like bottle like we did.

Just make sure to keep it in the fridge to ensure it has the perfect temperature when the time to serve comes.

This also means that because you can make this in advance, you can make this in a large batch beforehand.

Can you substitute the raspberry vodka?

If you cannot find raspberry vodka, vanilla vodka or plain vodka works well too in this Love Potion recipe.

What if I can’t find strawberry gin?

If you cannot find strawberry gin, avoid using regular gin since its bitterness will ruin the flavor profile.

So we recommend skipping it completely.

If you want to have an even more chilled cocktail:

Serve the Love Potion with ice in each glass.

We recommend chilling the glasses in the freezer beforehand so that it does not get watered down.
