Who is Arnold Palmer? What is an Arnold Palmer Drink?
Arnold Palmer is a legendary world-renowned golf player. The Arnold Palmer, which is a refreshing alcohol-free blend of iced tea and lemonade is a drink that he always ordered and that was later famously named after him.
It’s also known by other names like Half and Half, Arnie Palmer, Hard Arnold Palmer or John Daly.
The Spiked Arnold Palmer is the perfect twist on this classic beverage for those looking for a little extra kick. We made a similar variation with Spiked Peach Iced Tea.
What Ingredients Do You Need to Make a Spiked Arnold Palmer Drink?
Vodka — Adjust to your preference.
Black iced tea — Brewing your tea, and then chilling it gives perfect results. Opt for store bought unsweetened tea if you are in a time bind.
If you are making your own homemade black tea, brew the tea at least 2 hours in advance (or overnight) so it can have enough time to chill.
Lemon juice — Fresh is always best, but premixed lemonade will also do.
Simple syrup — To make your own fresh lemonade. It’s simply equal parts sugar and water, heated until sugar dissolves, then cooled. Get the recipe here.
Lemon wheels or lemon slice or mint — Optional for garnish.

Recipe Notes and Tips
Do you have to use vodka?
Arnold Palmer spiked drinks are classically mixed with either plain vodka or bourbon. But gin, white rum, tequila or even flavored could also work perfectly.
To make a large batch of Spiked Arnold Palmer:
Follow the same proportions as for the single serving. For better results, use equal parts iced tea and lemonade. The vodka or liquor of choice should be only a quarter of the ice tea and lemonade mixture. But of course, feel free to add more or less.
For example, mix 2 cups of lemonade and 2 cups of iced tea with 1 cup of vodka.
Try different types of simple syrup:
You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less simple syrup. Have fun with the recipe by trying brown sugar simple syrup or mint simple syrup to create your unique twist on this classic cocktail.
Experiment with using different types of teas:
Though black tea is the most common brew. Arnold Palmer drinks can also be made with sweet tea or other fun variations like green tea or earl grey.
